Best Automateed Alternatives in 2026
Automateed now sells one-time lifetime plans from $149 to $997, with no refund once your credits are released and no pricing page you can read without an account. If that is the wrong shape of bet for you, here is the honest field, with every price checked on 14 September 2026.
Try Inkfluence AI FreeQuick Answer
The best Automateed alternative for most authors is Inkfluence AI, because it removes the two frictions people hit with Automateed in 2026: every price is published openly, and the free plan writes five chapters with no card so you can judge the output before paying anything. It also covers more of the job, with 33 book types including fiction, a chapter count set by your prompt rather than whole ebooks metered per month, an editor with an assistant, a 49-voice audiobook, translation into 59 languages and publishing straight to Gumroad and Etsy, from $9.99 a month. Automateed's lifetime tiers are $149, $239, $299 and $997 with monthly credit allowances, sold with all sales final. In its favour, fairly: it is a real product with a 4.8 rating from 394 Trustpilot reviews. Squibler, Designrr, Piktochart and ChatGPT with Canva are the other routes, ranked below.
Why Authors Look for an Automateed Alternative in 2026
Most of this is not about output quality. Their reviews are good and the product does what it says. It is about how the thing is sold, and about a set of changes made in early September 2026 that a prospective buyer runs into immediately.
- You cannot see a price without an account. As of 14 September 2026, their pricing page and plans page both return HTTP 410 Gone, and the pricing link on their own homepage opens a login screen on their app. The one public pricing page is not in their sitemap, which is why search engines were still serving a deleted URL for their pricing.
- There is no refund. Their pricing page states all sales are final and that digital content cannot be returned. Their refund policy agrees: no returns, partial credits or pro-rated refunds once the service, credits or files have been made available. The exceptions are duplicate charges, fraud and total non-delivery.
- The trial is 5,000 words. Roughly three or four chapters, which tells you about the prose and very little about how the finished book, cover and export behave.
- The subscription is gone. Third-party listings still show monthly tiers at $25 and $50; those are no longer offered. It is lifetime or nothing, so the cheapest way in is $149.
- The scarcity does not move. Their pricing tiers carry counters reading "22 of 25", "73 of 75", "47 of 50" and "24 of 25 spots claimed" under a "price increases soon" banner. Two checks twenty seconds apart returned the same numbers, with every tier between 88% and 97% claimed at the same moment.
- The guides you may have bookmarked are gone. A large part of their site was removed in early September. If a link to one of their tutorials, comparisons or their pricing page gives you an error, that is why.
- Ebooks are metered whole. Plans are counted in complete ebooks a month, so a four-chapter lead magnet and a thirty-chapter manuscript cost the same unit.
In fairness
Automateed holds a 4.8 rating from 394 Trustpilot reviews built up since 2023, which is more independent feedback than almost anything else in this category and more than we have. Their free tools work without a signup wall and their newer guides cite primary sources properly. None of the points above is a claim that the product is bad. They are reasons the purchase shape may not suit you.
Automateed Pricing and What Each Purchase Gets (14 September 2026)
Read from their own lifetime page. Prices may change; the shape of the offer is the point.
| Purchase | What you get | What to weigh |
|---|---|---|
| Entry Lifetime, $149 one-time | 4 ebooks a month, 40 images, 100 tasks. Credits reset monthly on your anniversary date | No refund once credits or files are released. No monthly option. No fiction-specific tooling |
| Standard Lifetime, $239 one-time | 8 ebooks a month, 80 images, 200 tasks | Same terms. The allowance rises, the shape of the product does not |
| Pro Lifetime, $299 one-time ("most popular") | 12 ebooks a month, 120 images, 300 tasks | Same terms |
| Elite Lifetime, $997 one-time | 100 ebooks a month, 1,000 images, 10,000 tasks | Same terms, at nearly seven times the Pro price |
| Before you buy | A free trial of 5,000 words, which is roughly three or four chapters | A published refund window. Their pricing page states "all sales are final, no refunds" and their refund policy confirms no returns, partial credits or pro-rated refunds once the service, credits or files have been made available (checked 14 September 2026) |
Inkfluence AI, for the same author: a free plan with 5 chapters and 5 more a month, the cover designer and PDF export, no card; Creator at $9.99 a month or $89 a year with 35 chapters a month, EPUB and DOCX, a print-ready KDP interior, import, 10 AI covers, 20 images and 15 audiobook chapters a month; Premium at $19.99 a month or $179 a year with unlimited chapters, 30 covers, 50 images and 30 audiobook chapters; chapter credit packs from $9.99 that never expire; and lifetime tiers on AppSumo for anyone who prefers one payment. Every figure is on the pricing page, readable without an account.
Is the Lifetime Bet Worth It? Do the Maths
A lifetime plan is a bet on how long you will keep using it. Move the sliders and see the break-even. Prices checked 14 September 2026; nothing is sent anywhere.
The honest caveat on any lifetime purchase: it is worth the price only if the product still exists, is still developed and still fits you for the whole period. That bet is easier where there is a refund window behind it.
What 100,000+ Books Say About Buying a Book Tool
First-party data from Inkfluence AI, because the argument about pricing shape is really an argument about how people actually use these tools.
100,000+
books created on the platform
~41%
of finished books are exported for publishing
5
median chapters in a business-purpose book, counted 14 Sep 2026
33
book types, fiction and non-fiction
Most people write one book, not twelve a month. The median author on this platform has a single project. That matters because a lifetime plan metered at four, eight or twelve complete ebooks a month is priced for a volume publisher, and most buyers are not one. If you make two books a year, an allowance of twelve a month is 142 unused ebooks a year that you have already paid for.
Books are not one size. The median business-purpose book here is five chapters, but 939 have seven or eight and 186 run past twenty (counted 14 September 2026 across 9,281 books; the full table is on the business book comparison). Metering whole ebooks charges a four-chapter lead magnet the same as a thirty-chapter manuscript.
The finish line is where the value is. About 41% of finished books here are exported for publishing, over a thousand have gone straight to Gumroad and hundreds to Etsy. What decides whether a book sells is rarely the drafting speed; it is the cover, the edit, the format and the listing. Weigh tools on how much of that they finish, not on how fast the first draft appears.
And test before you pay. Whatever you choose. A trial that writes a few chapters tells you about prose. A free plan that finishes a short book, gives it a cover and exports it tells you about the thing you are actually buying. Our data study has the full picture of what people write and finish.

Inkfluence AI
Best for: Anyone who wants the price in the open, a free plan to test the output, and the finished book rather than a file: 33 book types including fiction, a chapter count you set, an editor with an assistant, covers, images, a 49-voice audiobook, translation and store publishing
Price: Free plan; Creator $9.99/mo or $89/yr; Premium $19.99/mo or $179/yr; credit packs from $9.99 that never expire; lifetime tiers on AppSumo with its 60-day refund window
The direct answer to the two things people dislike about a no-refund lifetime purchase: you can see every price without an account, and you can finish a short book free before paying anything. Authors have created 100,000+ books on the platform and about 41% of finished books are exported for publishing.
Squibler
Best for: Outline-first drafting when you want structure and will edit heavily
Price: Free plan; Plus $29.99/mo ($15.83 on annual); Pro $89.99/mo (checked 11 September 2026)
A credible outliner that expands chapters on demand, with Word and PDF export and a real free tier. Output runs generic on longer books and there is no cover, audiobook or publishing step.
Designrr
Best for: Turning content you have already published into an ebook
Price: Subscription from about $29 a month (checked 14 September 2026)
Imports blog posts, podcasts and documents and lays them out well, with a WordPress integration. It writes nothing original, so it suits a back catalogue rather than a blank page.
Piktochart or Venngage
Best for: Design-led short PDFs where layout matters more than the words
Price: Freemium, paid tiers roughly $14 to $49 a month depending on seats
Template-first design tools with AI assistance added. Strong for a visual lead magnet, weak for anything book length, and the writing is yours.
ChatGPT Plus and Canva
Best for: Assembling it yourself for the lowest possible cash cost
Price: ChatGPT Plus $20/mo; Canva free or $15/mo
Every chapter is a fresh prompt, consistency is your job, and layout, cover and export happen in a second tool. Cheapest if your time is free, slowest if it is not.
How to Switch from Automateed
- Export your books from Automateed as DOCX. PDF and EPUB import too, but DOCX keeps the headings cleanest for chapter detection.
- In Inkfluence AI, choose Import on the dashboard and pick the file. Chapters are detected from your headings and import is free on every plan, including the free one.
- Fix what you wanted to fix: rewrite passages with the assistant, regenerate a weak chapter against a sharper brief, and add or cut chapters without spending a whole-ebook credit.
- Add in-chapter images, design a cover with a KDP wrap, narrate an audiobook with 49 voices, translate for a second market, then export PDF, EPUB, DOCX or a print-ready interior, or publish to Gumroad or Etsy.
Nothing is locked in either direction: Inkfluence AI exports DOCX too, so you can leave whenever you like. If you already own an Automateed lifetime plan, keep using it for what it does well and bring the books that need more work across.
