Publishing & Sharing

2 step-by-step guides for publishing & sharing in Inkfluence AI.

Let readers colour your coloring book online

Every published coloring book gets a free "Colour this book online" page: readers colour the preview pages in their browser, download or share the result, and follow your store link for the whole book.

Key takeaways

Coloring books only

The button appears on the public page of every published coloring book. Story picture books, ABC books and text books do not get one.

Free for readers, no sign-up

Anyone with the link can colour the preview pages. Their work is saved in their own browser, not in an account.

How the colouring page appears

Publish a coloring book to the showcase the same way as any other book. Its public page then shows a "Colour this book online" button in the Look inside section, and the page itself lives at your book's address with /colour on the end. Nothing extra to switch on.

  1. Open Showcase in the app and click Publish on the coloring book (or publish from the review screen when the book finishes).
  2. Open the public book page. Under Look inside you will see "Colour this book online" with the number of free pages.
  3. Share that link anywhere: social posts, your newsletter, a QR code on the printed book, a classroom board.

What readers can do

The colouring page uses the same preview pages that Look inside shows, so readers colour a sample of the book rather than all of it.

  • Tap a shape to fill it, or paint with marker, pencil and soft brushes; an eyedropper picks colours from the page.
  • Six palettes, a custom colour picker, recent colours, and gradient fills.
  • Undo and redo, a two-tap Start over, pinch or scroll to zoom, and keyboard shortcuts on desktop.
  • Download the finished page as an image with your book's title and name on a caption band, or share it straight from the page on a phone.
  • Their colouring is saved in their browser, so they can come back to the same page later on the same device.

Turning colourers into buyers

Under the tool a card says how many more pages the full book has and links to where it is sold. If the book is published to Gumroad or Etsy, the button goes straight to that listing; otherwise it goes to your book page. A second card invites readers to make their own coloring book with Inkfluence, so the page also brings new authors in.

Once a reader colours most of a page, your book page starts showing how many times the book has been coloured, next to its reads and recommendations.

  • Connect Gumroad or Etsy and publish the book there first, so the "Get the whole book" button has somewhere to send people.
  • Print the colouring link as a QR code inside the paperback: buyers get a free digital extra and a reason to share.
  • Teachers and parents can use the page as a free activity without buying anything, which is fine: every share carries your book's name.

Reads, recommendations and Rising

Every published book shows how many people read it and how many authors recommended it. Read other authors' books from the Community tab and your own books get a boost in Rising.

Key takeaways

Reads show on every published book

The card in the Community tab, the public book page and the Published badge on your bookshelf all show reads, this week's reads and recommendations.

Reading others lifts your books

Rising ranks books by what they gained recently, discounted by age, plus a boost for authors who read other people's books. Read three books after publishing and yours gets that boost.

Recommend once per book

A recommendation shows on the author's public page as "Recommended by N authors". You cannot recommend your own.

Where reads appear

Once a book is published, its card in the Community tab shows its reads, how many of those came this week, and how many authors have recommended it. The same figures appear on the book's public page and on the Published badge on your bookshelf.

Pin up to three books from the card menu on Your Shelf. Pinned books stay first on your shelf and lead your public author page, with the first pin shown as the big featured book.

Anyone can read the whole of your first chapter on the public page, turning pages with the arrows, the keyboard or a swipe on a phone. Every visit to the page counts as a read.

Reading other authors

The Community tab shows other authors' books in five views: Rising (new books gaining reads and recommendations, so a book published this week can lead), Most recommended, Editor's picks (chosen by the Inkfluence team), New, and Most read. Tap Read to open a book on the public site. Each book you read counts once a day.

Reading other people's books lifts your own in Rising, in the app and in the Rising row at inkfluenceai.com/books. Up to twenty reads a day count.

Recommending

Tap Recommend on a book you liked. You get five recommendations a week and they refill every Monday, so each one carries weight. A recommendation counts double a read towards your own boost in Rising. Recommendations are one per author per book and show on the book's public page as "Recommended by N authors".

After you publish

The Community tab highlights after each publish and counts your next three reads, which give your new book a boost in Rising.

The bell in the header tells you when it happens: a recommendation shows up straight away (several on one day collapse into one line), and a morning entry sums up yesterday's reads when there were a few or when a book found its first readers. Quieter weeks roll into one entry on Monday. Nothing pops up while you write and there are no emails.
