Key takeaways

Pencil icon

Next to your book title in the editor.

Edit Book Details dialog

Title, Subtitle, and Author in one place.

Auto-syncs

Cover, dashboard, exports, and Showcase all update.

Steps

Click the pencil icon next to your book title at the top of the editor. The Edit Book Details dialog opens with three fields: Title, Subtitle, and Author. Update any of them, then click Save. The Cover Designer Text tab is the same set of fields plus typography styling if you want finer control over how they appear on the cover.

Where your changes appear

Title, subtitle, and author changes flow through every surface automatically:

  • Your book cover
  • The My Books dashboard card
  • Every export (PDF, EPUB, DOCX)
  • The Showcase listing if the book is published

How to set your author name and bio

Author name is per-book. Bio is one global field that flows through every surface.

Key takeaways

Author name

Per-book. Edit via the pencil icon next to your book title.

Author bio

One global bio shared across every book and surface.

Bio appears in exports

On a paid plan, bio renders on the About the Author page.

Author name (per book)

Each book stores its own author name, so you can use a pen name on one book and your real name on another. To edit it, click the pencil icon next to your book title at the top of the editor. The dialog lets you change both the title and the author name. Your choice flows through to the cover and every export.

You can also edit the author name inside the Cover Designer if you are already there fine-tuning the cover layout.

Author bio (one global field)

Your bio is a single field on your account, shared across every book. It represents you the author, not a specific book, so editing it in any one place updates it everywhere. You can edit it from any of these surfaces:

  • Profile page (avatar top right, then Profile)
  • Showcase author profile card (Showcase tab, then edit your profile)
  • Export dialog: "About the Author" accordion (paid plans only)
  • Publish dialog when publishing a book to Showcase

What changes when you update your bio

Updating the bio anywhere updates it everywhere. Specifically:

  • Future exports will include the new bio on the About the Author page (paid plans)
  • Already-published books on /books sync to the new bio automatically
  • Your Profile page and Showcase author card reflect the new bio
  • The Export dialog pre-fills with the new bio for your next export

Key takeaways

Editor typography sidebar

Five sizes from 14 to 24px.

Default is 16px

Comfortable reading size for most genres.

Steps

Open any chapter in the editor and use the typography controls in the sidebar. Five body font sizes are available: 14, 16, 18, 20, and 24px. The default is 16px which reads comfortably across most genres.

Larger sizes mean more total pages. 24px is unusually large for body text, best reserved for large-print editions or kids titles. 14px is tight, useful when you want a slimmer book. Pick the size that matches your audience and intended page count.
