Healing Ministry
“Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up.”
- James 5:14-15 KJV
PAGE 1 - PURPOSE, VISION & BIBLICAL FOUNDATION1. PURPOSE OF THE BETHEL CITY CHURCH HEALING ROOMThe Bethel City Church Healing Room exists to provide a Christ-centered, Scripture-based environment in which believers minister healing through the name, authority, Word, and power of Jesus Christ.
We believe Jesus Christ is the Healer.
The Healing Minister is not the healer. The Healing Minister is a servant of Jesus Christ who obeys His command, believes His Word, depends upon the Holy Spirit, and ministers to people with faith, compassion, humility, and authority.
The Healing Room exists to see people:
Encounter Jesus Christ
Experience the love of God
Receive prayer for healing
Be strengthened in faith
Receive ministry for restoration and encouragement
Learn to stand upon the Word of God
Become equipped to walk in the authority Christ has given believers
The Healing Room is not a counseling center, medical clinic, diagnostic center, or place for theological argument.
The primary assignment is simple:
Present Jesus. Believe His Word. Minister healing. Love people. Honor the Holy Spirit.
John G. Lake's Healing Room ministry emphasized training believers to minister healing, and his work included the training of Divine Healing Technicians.
Curry Blake's DHT framework likewise emphasizes the absolute authority of God's Word, the authority of Jesus over sickness and disease, the believer's responsibility to serve those oppressed by sickness, and the believer's union with God through Jesus Christ.
Bethel City Church adopts these principles within its own biblical and pastoral oversight.
2. THE FOURFOLD PURPOSE OF THE HEALING ROOMEvery Healing Minister should understand these four foundational purposes.
1. JESUS HEALSJesus is the center of the ministry.
“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.”
- Hebrews 13:8
“For I am the LORD that healeth thee.”
- Exodus 15:26
The Healing Minister must never create dependence upon his or her personality, experience, title, or ability.
The individual should leave knowing more about Jesus-not merely more about the minister.
2. THE HOLY SPIRIT MINISTERSThe Healing Room welcomes the presence and ministry of the Holy Spirit.
“Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.”
- Zechariah 4:6
We do not manipulate people, manufacture manifestations, or pressure anyone to respond in a particular way.
We minister with spiritual sensitivity while remaining anchored to Scripture.
3. PEOPLE EXPERIENCE THE LOVE OF GODEvery person must be treated with dignity, patience, kindness, and honor.
“But the greatest of these is charity.”
- 1 Corinthians 13:13
Whether a person experiences immediate improvement, partial improvement, or no noticeable change during the session, that individual must still encounter the love and compassion of Christ.
4. BELIEVERS ARE EQUIPPED TO MINISTERThe Healing Room is also a training environment.
The objective is not merely to conduct prayer sessions. It is to develop believers who understand that they can minister the Gospel and pray for the sick wherever God sends them.
“And these signs shall follow them that believe.”
- Mark 16:17
The Healing Room therefore develops boldness, compassion, biblical knowledge, spiritual maturity, discipline, and obedience.
3. THE FOUNDATION: THE WORD OF GODThe Word of God is the final authority for the ministry.
“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
- Romans 10:17
“He sent his word, and healed them.”
- Psalm 107:20
“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree... by whose stripes ye were healed.”
- 1 Peter 2:24
“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities... and with his stripes we are healed.”
- Isaiah 53:5
“And he healed them all.”
- Matthew 12:15
The Healing Minister does not minister from fear, speculation, or human opinion.
We minister from the Word.
