Overview

This chapter explains what the internet is using simple words and fun ideas. You will learn: what the internet does, who uses it, and one clean activity to show how it shares information. After the activity, you will answer short questions to check your understanding.

The internet is like a giant web that connects computers, phones, and tablets so they can send messages and pictures. Think of it as a school hallway where friends pass notes. Some notes are helpful (homework, games, videos) and some notes are not safe.

Activity: Web of Messages

1. Draw four circles on your paper. Label them: Home, Friend, School, Game.

2. Draw lines between circles to show who can send messages. Example: Home ↔ Friend, Friend ↔ School, Home ↔ Game.

3. Write one example message next to each line (e.g., "Hi!" between Home and Friend, "Homework" between Friend and School, "Play" between Home and Game).

Completion criteria: You are done when all four circles are connected by at least one line and each line has a written example message.

Reflection Questions (answer in one sentence each):

1. Which circle would you trust to send a school note? Why?

2. Which message would you not share with everyone? Why?

Self-check: If you can name one safe message and one message you would keep private, you understood the activity.
