Krishna Explains LoveThere are moments in every human life when the heart asks a question that the mind cannot answer. The world often teaches that love depends on conditions. We are encouraged to love those who agree with us, those who fulfill our expectations, and those who make us feel secure. Such love is fragile because it depends on circumstances that constantly change. Krishna offers a different vision. He reveals a love that is unconditional, fearless, and eternal-a love that neither begins with birth nor ends with death. This is the love of the soul, which recognizes the same divine presence in every living being.

In the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna reminds Arjuna that the body is temporary, while the soul is unborn, undying, and everlasting. If our true identity is eternal, then the highest form of love must also be eternal. Divine love is therefore not rooted in appearance, status, wealth, or physical attraction. It arises from the recognition that every soul is a spark of the Supreme Reality. When we truly see others through this spiritual vision, judgment gives way to compassion, fear gives way to trust, and separation gives way to unity.

Krishna never asks humanity to abandon love. Instead, He teaches us to purify it. Love mixed with selfishness becomes attachment. Love mixed with pride becomes control. Love mixed with fear becomes dependency. But when love is purified through wisdom, humility, devotion, and selfless service, it becomes a reflection of the Divine itself. Such love liberates rather than binds, heals rather than wounds, and awakens rather than blinds.

From that boundless source emerged every soul, carrying within it a spark of the Divine. According to Lord Krishna, this divine spark is our true identity. We are not merely bodies shaped by time, nor minds occupied by endless thoughts. We are eternal souls whose original nature is pure love.

This truth is one of the most profound teachings found in the Bhagavad Gita. Krishna gently reminds Arjuna that the soul is never born and never dies. It cannot be destroyed by weapons, consumed by fire, soaked by water, or carried away by the wind. The soul exists beyond all material limitations because it belongs to the eternal. If the soul is eternal, then love-the soul's highest expression-is also eternal.

Yet most people experience love only through the senses. They believe love is something that begins when two people meet and ends when circumstances change. Krishna reveals that what we often call love is only a reflection of a far greater reality. The love we seek in the world is actually a longing to rediscover our eternal relationship with the Divine. Every desire for acceptance, every search for belonging, every hope for lasting happiness points toward the soul's deepest remembrance of Krishna.

Imagine a river flowing tirelessly toward the ocean. It may pass through forests, deserts, valleys, and cities, but its destination never changes. In the same way, every human heart is moving toward divine love, whether it realizes it or not. Some search through relationships, some through success, some through knowledge, and others through service. Each journey reflects the same inner longing-to return to the infinite source of love from which the soul originated.
